California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo

Following its founding in 1901 as a vocational high school, California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo has since grown into an esteemed state university known for its unique educational philosophy of learning by doing. It encourages students to be engaged by solving practical, real-world problems using experiential exercises and classroom theory. Its most popular major is Business Administration, one of four California State Universities participating in the Big West Conference in athletics. It fields 20 varsity sports and participates in the NCAA's Division I. The campus is located in San Luis Obispo, just 29 miles from our hotel.

Are tours available for new students and parents?

Cal Poly offers a general campus tour led by current students Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The tour provides a unique perspective on campus and residential life from the students themselves and begins near the information desk of the University Union.

Are there restaurants or places to eat on campus?

Yes, Cal Poly offers a ton of places to grab food and dine on campus. Some eateries include Ciao, Market Sushi, Red Radish, City Deli, Fusion Bowl, Tapango's and Chick Fil-A. You can also find boutique foods spots like the Burger Bar, 19 Metro Station and Curbside Grill.
